WSP is currently searching for a Proposal Manager (Manager, Marketing) who can be based out of any of WSP's regional office locations, preferably on the east coast.

The Strategic Growth Team Proposal Manager will be key in supporting our firm’s continued growth through business development and marketing services excellence. Our ideal candidate will bring experience in the A/E/C or professional services industries and leadership of pursuit teams. We are looking for someone who is collaborative, can influence and inspire others, and brings a deep understanding of proposal and interview best practices. The right candidate will be an empathetic leader who builds relationships through positivity and who can bring home the win.  


The Proposal Manager will work with district marketing director, marketing managers, business line management and district management to align priorities and drive successful proposal, pursuit and marketing activities across all business lines in the district. In addition, this person will support local teams in positioning for major pursuits, including capture planning and pipeline development.


Candidates will demonstrate strong leadership and facilitation skills, a commitment to excellence, a history of personal initiative, and a track record of submitting highly-ranked proposals to public and/or private agencies. We are seeking a dynamic individual with experience overseeing, coordinating, and delivering on all aspects of proposal development, including strategy and messaging, writing, layout, managing process, graphics, and production. Must have excellent writing skills, be detail-oriented, rally proposal teams to meet a schedule, work with technical teams to brainstorm winning messages and themes and can effectively advance multiple projects simultaneously.  

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and support capture planning activities: selection panel understanding, government relations strategies, competitive strategies, innovative approaches, work plan development, positioning activities, competitor analysis, etc. 
  • Lead the most complex proposals. Collaborate with technical staff and write/review/edit original content for clarity, compliance, and key messages. Work with graphic designers to plan and produce materials, ensuring all proposal materials effectively communicate the strategic vision identified for a given pursuit.
  • Work with individual pursuit teams to develop pursuit strategies, including providing business intelligence on clients, competitors and WSP.
  • Lead interview and presentation development for shortlist interviews.
  • Assist in proposal debrief sessions for winning and losing efforts.
  • Oversee quality of marketing deliverables and compliance with WSP procedures. 
  • Identify and drive business line/area visibility plans and external communications opportunities in alignment with strategic priorities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of extensive experience in pursuit development in the A/E/C industry.
  • Excellent communicator with strong critical thinking, marketing strategy development, group facilitation, and team building skills. 
  • Possess a strategic mindset, sound judgment and the ability to develop and manage strategic capture plans
  • Strong leadership skills to build trust and influence others and work with all levels of management 
  • Experience leading large, diverse and virtual proposal and interview teams 
  • Superior organizational, time management and interpersonal skills
  • Strong personal initiative and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel) and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign)
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, journalism, or a closely related field or equivalent professional experience.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $83,100 - $148,060
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.

Expected Salary (Colorado only): $83,100 - $138,930

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
