KBR is hiring a Manager of the Proposal Writing Team within the Science & Space (S&S) Business Unit.  This is a management role responsible for all aspects of proposal writing and editing during the capture and proposal process. The responsibilities include managing up to 15 people. As a key contributor to our competitiveness and market success, this position will focus on creating and submitting high-quality government proposals. This role will ensure writing best practices are utilized, ensuring quality writing and storytelling to our customers.  This position will report to the Vice President of Business Development for S&S.   

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees/manages the delivery of high quality, fully compliant and winning proposals
  • Focuses on providing winning proposals and ensuring the best win rate for S&S
  • Provide interfaces and collaboration with the various levels of the business
  • Manage day-to-day writing operations impacting the various proposals and captures in process
  • Provides governance and management of proposal writing activities through establishment of best practices
  • Supports responses to RFP’s and other customer facing documents.
  • Works with counterparts in other areas of the business to ensure alignment.
  • Assign, coordinate, and manage the workloads of proposal writing staff
  • Create and maintain a transparent all-projects schedule with statuses and important milestones so that all members are informed about upcoming deliverables
  • Ensure that all work adheres to all applicable policies, procedures and work instructions.
  • Ensure writers/editors consistently deliver projects on-time, on-budget, per specification and with high levels of quality content.
  • Participates in planning sessions as necessary to assist in determining writing approach and overall timelines associated with proposal delivery requirements.
  • Establish and roll-out strategies for efficient implementation and continuous improvement of content, based on metrics and feedback
  • Work with other BD and Capture resources to ensure key messages are conveyed in the proposal response

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business related field
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in BD with writing and writing management experience
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing a team between 10-15
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to present to and influence an executive audience
  • Ability to easily shift focus from proposal to proposal to meet changing deadlines
  • Problem solving and critical thinking ability required
  • Excellent data analysis skills
  • Travel required occasionally, may include overnight stay(s)
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with management
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others
  • Someone who promotes cooperation and commitment within team to achieve goals
  • Ability to analyze sets of data on a micro and macro level and presenting or including analysis in strategic decisions
  • Experience analyzing market and competitive data. Has a deep understanding of the customer’s business objectives and purchasing criteria.
