In this position, you will be the expert in delivering competitive bids, estimates and quotes to customers for projects in Low Voltage switchgear systems ANSI, Electrification Distribution Solutions (ELDS) in Mebane, North Carolina. In this role you will be responsible for creating and completing bids/estimations/quotations based on customer specifications and requirements, in ELDS in North America, ensuring market competitive and profitable orders for the business. You will take a lead role in developing offers for the team’s products, including aspects such as product, price and market position.

Your responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of technical, commercial and contractual aspects of Proposals in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Formulate competitive bids/estimates/quotation, taking into account product mix and appropriate technical and commercial considerations for each individual situation. Ensures quotations are well documented in a timely manner and with the appropriate level of detail, including full and accurate costs
- Manage the preparation of all technical (example defining the most suitable technology and product type(s)), financial (example Full Cost Model, cash flow analysis) and if necessary project management (example quantifies hours of engineering and labor) aspects of the bid/estimate/quotation, indicating prices and trading conditions. Obtain the correct approvals based on Business Authority Table and Approval Matrix prior to submitting bids
- Work in collaboration with ABB customers, pricing, product management and supply chain organizations pre bid, as well as project execution teams after award. In accordance with bids/estimates/quotation planning, ensure that quotations are provided on time and according to established quality procedures
- Collect and archive documentation regarding the offer/order and records assumptions and decisions taken during the development process. Regularly report the status of the bids/estimates/quotations using defined tools and collects and analyses the reasons for tenders being lost and won
- Identify potential risks in the bids, quotations, and estimates and in any related contract agreements across customers/channels
- Provides information and/or participates in the Risk Review process in accordance with ABB policy
- Collect and collate all information needed to prepare the proposal, including both technical and cost elements
- Establish and maintain effective customer relationships to understand customer needs. Ensures a positive customer experience throughout the sales process. Provide necessary technical support to Sales Managers during technical meetings with customers
- Maintain proposal quality while managing multiple proposal on time delivery goals
Your background
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering or Related Field and minimum 2 to 5 years of experience in Proposals, Technical Sales, Engineering or Related field, with Power or Electrical products
- Skills: Ability to work under direct supervision or independently
- Strong communication skills to identify stakeholder priorities
- Willingness and aptitude to learn complex technical and commercial topics
- Ability to manage multiple projects with deadlines and shifting priorities
- Manage conflicting stakeholder requests
- Knowledge of current ABB ELDS products and the ability to learn new products as they become available
- Ability to identify and determine requirements from customer documentation and drawings
- Knowledge in reading electrical and mechanical drawings and device summaries
- Experience with WindChill, SAP and other ABB systems
- Fluent in English language, both verbal and written
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
